  15. Welcome to cardz - a NON AGA conversion of Klondike deluxe for all Amiga
  16. owners to use. Cardz retains one of the best features of Klondike
  17. Deluxe i.e. the ability to load other card sets ( more on this later ).

  20. 1 LOADING CARDZ

  23. Boot disk from drive DF0: and double click on the Cardz Icon. 
  24. Cardz requires 1Mb of memory.

  27. 2 PLAYING CARDZ

  30. Cardz is based around the game of Klondike. For those of you unfamiliar 
  31. with Klondike a brief explanation of how to play the game follows.  
  32. When you first play there are seven rows of cards located along the top
  33. of the screen. In the first row lies one card, in the second two and so on,
  34. until in the last row there are seven. You  can only see the front side of 
  35. the first card in the row. The remainder of the cards are located in the 
  36. lower left corner of the screen in what is referred to as the stock pile.
  37. To play you must place a card of one colour on a card of the other colour,
  38. you must also follow in numerical sequence e.g. You can put a red two, on a
  39. black three. Cards can be taken from the stock pile or another column.
  40. Click on the stock pile to rotate the cards in the stock and obtain
  41. a new card on top of the stock. Dependent of the level of play the
  42. stock turns with one or three cards. Situated on the lower right of the
  43. screen are the four ace places. Here you may place any of the aces,
  44. followed by a two, three and so on. Cards placed on the ace places must be 
  45. of the same suit. Kings may be placed on any empty place in the upper
  46. screen. To win the game all cards must be placed in the correct Ace place
  47. and the rest of the screen empty.

  50. 3 CONTROLS

  52. To move cards you first must select a card by clicking on the left 
  53. mouse button and then you must click on the destination card with 
  54. the left mouse button. To automatically move a card to an ace 
  55. place click on the card with the right mouse button. When playing
  56. the game the following keys may be used.
  57.  
  58. Press <r> to restart a card game.
  59.  
  60. Press <Esc> to stop playing.
  61.  
  62. Press <l> to load a cardz set.
  63.  
  64. Press <Help> to read instructions
  65.  
  66. Press <m> to read more Cardz
  67.  
  68. Press <e> set game to easy ( turns one card at a time )
  69.  
  70. Press <h> set game to hard ( turns 3 cards at a time )

  73. 4 GENERAL

  76. *  If you make a wrong card move the source card will be de-selected.
  77. *  Wrong choices 'Screenflash'.
  78. *  Loading another Cardz set will restart the game.
  79. *  It is possible to choose a lower level while playing. If you choose
  80.    a higher level the game restarts.
  81. *  On loading Cardz searches for the cardset named "DEFAULT.CDZ", if this
  82.    cannot be found the program exits. If you have a favourite cardset
  83.    which you wish to use as a default set simply rename it to "DEFAULT.CDZ"

  86. 5 OTHER CARDZSETS
  87. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  89. Cardz uses MODIFIED Klondike AGA cardsets. These sets are converted from
  90. AGA ( very often HAM8 ) images and reduced to 16 colours to retain
  91. compatibility with the entire Amiga range. Using dithering techniques
  92. quality loss is kept to an absolute minimum. For details of other
  93. Cardzsets please read the File MORE_CARDZ found on the disk or from
  94. the main menu.
